Puffyfish Privacy

Last updated:

Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Jupiter’s Echo Designs Ltd. (“we”, “us”) handles information when you play Puffyfish. We are a UK company. Puffyfish does not require you to create an account with us, and we do not use the game for advertising or behavioural tracking.

Jupiter’s Echo Designs Ltd is registered with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office and pays the applicable data protection fee.

Information stored on your device

Puffyfish stores gameplay and preference data locally on your device so the game can work properly. Based on the current game code, this can include settings such as audio levels, language, accessibility options, tutorial progress, launch count, score/record data, and local purchase entitlement state for the one-time full-game unlock.

Diagnostic reporting

Puffyfish uses Sentry for diagnostic error reporting in supported builds. This helps us investigate crashes, non-fatal errors, and hard-to-reproduce technical issues. Diagnostic events may include crash logs, diagnostics, device or app identifiers, platform, build channel, engine version, error messages, stack traces, approximate location such as city-level geography, and limited runtime context relevant to the issue. The current game telemetry also includes whether reduced motion and haptics are enabled. We do not intentionally send your name, email address, or a player account profile to Sentry from the game code.

We have configured Sentry with server-side data scrubbing and to prevent storage of IP addresses for new events. Sentry may still receive standard connection metadata needed to accept incoming diagnostic events.

Purchases and entitlement verification

Puffyfish includes a one-time in-app purchase to unlock the full game. If you buy or restore that unlock, the relevant app store handles the payment transaction under its own privacy terms.

The game also sends a purchase-verification request to our backend when needed to confirm ownership. Based on the current code, that request includes a pseudonymous install ID generated by the game, the product ID, platform, request metadata such as timestamps/nonces, and store-provided purchase verification data. We use this only to validate entitlement, unlock paid content, prevent abuse, meet security and compliance needs, and troubleshoot purchase problems.

This may also include limited information about actions related to gameplay progression, purchase attempts, restore attempts, and entitlement checks where needed to keep the game working properly and resolve purchase issues.

Our backend and infrastructure providers may also retain standard request and security metadata associated with purchase-verification traffic, such as IP-derived approximate location, user agent, request IDs, and related log data. We use that information for entitlement verification, fraud prevention, security, troubleshooting, and service reliability.

Third parties

The main third-party services used in connection with Puffyfish are Sentry for diagnostics, cloud and infrastructure providers used to operate and secure the game backend, and the platform store/payment services used for purchases and restores. Sentry and our infrastructure providers process data on our behalf as service providers. App stores and payment platforms handle purchase transactions under their own privacy terms. We do not share user data with third parties for advertising or marketing.

Security

Data sent off your device to our backend or service providers is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS or comparable industry-standard transport security.

Retention

Local settings and entitlement cache files remain on your device until you remove the app data or uninstall the game. Server-side diagnostic and purchase-verification records may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, support, and improve Puffyfish.

Puffyfish does not currently provide an in-app or self-service mechanism to request deletion of server-side records. You may still contact us with privacy or deletion questions using the email below. We may retain certain records where reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or to resolve purchase and support issues.
